Hope springs eternal

Chausey islands, May 27, 2017

A couple of weeks ago , Australian scientists published an appalling news : the white sand beaches of Henderson  Island, a jewel of the South Pacific, 5000 kms west of the Chile coasts, are now littered with millions of plastic  bottles, bags, packages, and all kind of trash coming from South America.

Such ecological disaster raises anger, dismay, consternation: where and when will human activity stop destroying the planet?  But there is hope. Chausey, only 15 miles off the coast of Normandy is a pristine place. No urban developments. No cars. No litter on the island, no trash on the beaches, crystal clear waters, birds nesting in peace, lobsters, shrimps, crabs galore. It is possible. It exists . Let’s respect our earth. Hope springs eternal!.
